The chosen intervals of 31-EDO

This piece explores a subset of 31-tone equal temperament, focusing on intervals – (0), 4, 9, 12, 17, 22, 27, 31 – that diverge the most from both the familiar 12-tone system and the natural harmonic series. By dwelling in these “in-between” spaces, the music highlights tonalities that feel both unfamiliar and strangely resonant — a sound world suspended between the known and the unknown.
