I Shall Not Go Gentle
128 pure sine waves resonate simultaneously, each with a 50% probability of being triggered. The frequencies are drawn from a range of microtonal tuning systems, presented in the following sequence:
- 128 EDO (Equal Divisions of the Octave)
- 72 EDO
- 31 EDO
- The overtone series from partials 2 to 48
- The overtone series from partials 16 to 32
All tones are pure sine waves, free from overtones or timbral coloration. When such a large number of clean frequencies are played together, the result shifts away from traditional harmony and toward the perception of tone clusters as single timbral entities—more like resonant spectral clouds than chords.
